Boron Carbide is one of the hardest materials known, ranking third behind diamond and cubic boron nitride.
It is the hardest material produced in tonnage quantities. B₄C's boron carbide's Mohs hardness is around 9.5, melting point 2350ºC, density 2.51g/cm3.
B₄C boron carbide has following unique features: neutron absorbing, of semi-conductivity, low thermal conductivity, high grinding efficiency and no reaction with either acids or alkali etc.
